Born on February 20, 1954 in Camden Town, North London, England,
Anthony Stewart Head is best known to both American and British
audiences as "the guy feom the coffee adverts" (In England he became the
face of Nescafe Coffee, before moving his character overseas to promote
Tasters Choice.). However the youngest son of, Seafield Head (a
documentary filmmaker) and Helen Shingler (an actress) had already made
his name on Britains threatre scene. Head's roles have included Godspell,
Henry V, Julius Ceasar and, most notably, The Rocky Horror Picture Show,
which allowed him to showcase his amazing talents as a singer..
After moving to the US in 1992, Tony made appearances in various shows
including NYPD Blue, Highlander::The Series and the short lived VR5.
In 1997, Tony was offered the role of the Watcher Rupert Giles in Buffy.
Upon his first reading of the script, Tony knew that he wanted this role and
describes his portrayal as a cross between Hugh Grant, Prince Charles and
Alan Rickman.
During his time off from filming, Tony would split his time between LA and his home in Bath, England with his long time partner Sarah Fisher and his two daughters Emily Rose and Daisy May. Finally, after five years of solid working, Tony decided that he wanted to spend more time with his family before he missed too much of his daughters' lives and partially left the series, returning for the odd few episodes and the second half of the final season.
