Born March 24, 1974 in Washington DC, Alyson Hannigan began her acting
career in Atlanta at the young age of 4 in commercials sponsoring such
companies as McDonald's, Six Flags, and Oreos. She is a seasoned television
actress veteran, guest starring in "Picket Fences," "Roseanne," "Touched by an
Angel," and the "The Torkelsons,"
In 1988, Alyson earned her big break starring along side Dan Ackroyd and
Kim Basinger in My Stepmother Is An Alien. .Ironically, this role gave Alyson
her first screen appearance with a young Seth Green, who played her boyfriend
in that movie. The pair would be reunited 10 years later, when Seth took the role
of Daniel "Oz" Osbourne in Buffy.
Howver, during those intermittent years, Alyson finshed High School (a period
which she hated) and took a number of small television and movie roles including
Switched at Birth and The Stranger Beside Me.
In 1997, Alyson auditioned for the role of High School nerd, Willow Rosenberg.
Initially, the young red-head was unsure of how to play the role. It wasn't until
shewas sitting in her car reading the script for "Welcome to the Hellmouth" that it
hit her.The character of Willow appeared to come across as fairly self-depricating.
Hannigan realised that if she played the character as someone who sees the
glass half full, rather than half empty she had a better shot. Series Creator Joss
Whedon loved this interesting twist and hired her immediatley. Since appearing
in the show, Alyson's fame spread especially after being cast as Michelle in the
American Pie movies.
1999, American born actor Alexis Denisof joined the cast of Buffy as wimpy
Watcher Wesley Wyndam-Price. Although the attraction between the two actors
was immediate, Denisof refused to get involved while the pair worked together.
Finally, after Denisof had left the show the pair embarked on their relationship,
eventually marrying in 2002.
